The Opportunity:

Drive the evolution of our customer-facing APIs as a Sr. API Engineer! We need a proactive leader with a strong sense of ownership to design, build, and deliver critical backend services. You'll leverage your extensive PHP/Laravel 10+ and AWS skills, alongside modern tools including AI assistants, to architect and implement solutions that directly enhance our customer experience and business capabilities. This is a key role in our modernization initiative, offering significant impact and the chance to shape our future API architecture.

What You'll Do:

• Lead API Development: Take end-to-end ownership of designing, developing, testing, and deploying mission-critical RESTful APIs using PHP/Laravel.
• Drive Modernization: Actively contribute to migrating legacy systems and implementing modern architectural patterns and best practices.
• Deliver Business Value: Translate requirements into high-quality, scalable, and secure
• backend solutions that meet business objectives on AWS.
• Optimize for Impact: Employ AI tools strategically (e.g., Copilot) to accelerate delivery and
• focus on high-value engineering tasks.
• Architectural Contribution: Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to
• evolving our API architecture (microservices experience valued).
• Ensure Reliability: Implement robust testing (PHPUnit), monitoring, and security practices;
• troubleshoot complex production issues.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work effectively with product managers, DevOps, and other
• engineers in a fast-paced Agile environment, managing dependencies proactively.

• On-Call Participation: Contribute to the 24/7 support rotation for core API infrastructure.
• Proven Sr. Impact: Demonstrated success (5+ years) in senior engineering roles with a history of delivering impactful, complex backend projects.
• Laravel & PHP Expert: Deep, hands-on experience with PHP and the Laravel framework (10+strongly preferred).
• AWS Cloud Expertise: Proven ability to design, build, and operate applications effectively on AWS.
• Strategic AI User: Experience using AI-assisted tools pragmatically to boost productivity and deliver results efficiently.
• API Architecture & Design: Strong grasp of RESTful principles and experience contributing to scalable API design (microservices a plus).
• Database Mastery: Proficiency with MS SQL Server/PostgreSQL and caching solutions.
• Quality & Testing Focus: Commitment to high code quality through rigorous testing (PHPUnit).
• Agile & DevOps Fluency: Skilled in Git, CI/CD, Docker, and collaborating within Agile/DevOps cultures.
• Resilient & Proactive: Excellent problem-solving ability; thrives on tackling challenges, taking initiative, and navigating complex environments.
• Influential Communicator: Strong ability to articulate technical decisions and collaborate effectively across teams.
• PHP legacy migration experience.
• Node.js/JavaScript/TypeScript familiarity.
• Queuing systems (Laravel Horizon, AWS SQS).
• E-commerce background.
• OAuth/JWT knowledge.
